This position may require travel to our Westlake Village office as needed. The Surgical Coordinator manages the entire surgical scheduling process and serves as the primary point of contact for patients throughout their preoperative and postoperative care. Responsibilities Schedule ophthalmology procedures and coordinate with surgeons and surgical facilities Serve as the primary contact for surgical patients Perform routine preoperative testing and lens measurements Obtain medical clearances, lab results, consent forms, and insurance authorizations Educate patients regarding preoperative and postoperative instructions Schedule postoperative appointments Verify insurance benefits and submit authorization requests Maintain accurate medical records and surgical logs Communicate schedule changes and important updates to patients, vendors, and clinical teams Resolve scheduling conflicts and cancellations promptly Assist with administrative and clerical duties as needed Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience in surgical scheduling or a medical office Ophthalmology or retina experience strongly preferred Experience with insurance verification and authorization processes Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures Bilingual in English and Spanish required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping accuracy Comfortable using medical office systems, phone systems, and standard office equipment Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required to accommodate urgent surgical cases.
