Job Description

Dental Front Office Coordinator / Dental Assistant — San Mateo Part time | $28-$45 per hour, based on demonstrated skills and responsibilities We are a small, patient-centered dental practice in a growth phase. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people and wants to help build a well-organized, thriving office. We value honesty, reliability, initiative, a strong work ethic, and thoughtful follow-through with patients. Our ideal candidate is a capable front office coordinator who can also assist clinically. Strong Dentrix skills are especially important. We need someone who can coordinate the daily flow of the office, keep patient accounts accurate, manage billing confidently, and make sure patients receive clear, timely communication. Front office coordination responsibilities may include: Managing dental billing and patient accounts in Dentrix, including claims, payments, balances, and follow-up. Understanding in-network and out-of-network benefits, submitting claims correctly, and collecting the appropriate patient portion at the time of treatment. Preparing treatment estimates, verifying benefits, and explaining expected patient costs clearly. Coordinating the schedule, answering patient questions, and following through on calls and messages. Managing patient communication through NexHealth or Weave and helping improve office workflows.
Clinical responsibilities may include:
Chairside assisting and preparing treatment rooms. Taking dental X-rays, if qualified to do so in California. Taking iTero scans if experienced, or learning to scan with training. Sterilization and keeping the clinical area clean, stocked, and ready for patients. We care more about what you can demonstrate than the number of years on your résumé. Experience with iTero is welcome, and a quick learner who is eager to develop that skill is welcome too. If you are a strong dental assistant who prefers a clinical-only role , please apply and let us know.
Schedule:
Approximately 2½-3 days per week. Full shifts are typically about six paid hours, and we also welcome applicants seeking four-hour shifts. Some Friday or Saturday availability is helpful. Please include your availability and preferred shift length. To apply, please tell us which clinical and front office tasks you can perform independently, how you have used Dentrix, whether you are qualified to take dental X-rays in California, and which type of role you prefer. Please also include the hourly rate you believe is reasonable for the skills and responsibilities you can confidently bring to the office. We will discuss and assess relevant skills during a paid working interview.
Pay:
