In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and a welcoming environment for all patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, extensive dental office experience, and a thorough understanding of medical billing, insurance procedures, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and facilitate a positive first impression. Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software and coordinate patient flow throughout the day. Collect and process payments, handle medical collections, and perform accurate medical billing in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records electronically using EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks; review documentation for accuracy and completeness. Verify insurance coverage, submit claims, and follow up on reimbursements with health insurance providers like Medicare or Athenahealth. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA standards. Assist with phone communication, answer inquiries professionally, and direct calls appropriately using excellent phone etiquette. Support clinical staff by reviewing care plans, assisting with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and ensuring proper medical recordkeeping. Perform clerical tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), maintaining medical records, and managing electronic health records (EHR) management systems. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic operations while providing outstanding patient service at all times. Qualifications Proven experience as a medical receptionist or front desk staff within a dental or healthcare setting; clinic experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical administrative support functions including scheduling, billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance processing. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in electronic health records management. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus. Knowledge of health insurance policies including Medicare and HIPAA compliance requirements. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for administrative tasks; typing speed of at least 10 keys per second preferred. Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, medical records management, and office administration. Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology related to dental care plans and clinical procedures.
