Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Los Angeles, CA. This role supports patient access in a high-volume healthcare environment by managing registration, pre-registration, insurance verification, patient liability calculations, and front-office communication with professionalism and accuracy. Key Responsibilities
  • Register and pre-register outpatient and inpatient accounts accurately and efficiently.
  • Calculate and collect patient financial responsibility, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, guarantors, physicians, insurance companies, and internal staff.
  • Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and billing details.
  • Navigate multiple computer systems and screens while maintaining speed, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Follow HIPAA requirements, department policies, and supervisor instructions in all patient access activities. Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay rate: $26 to $27 per hour.

    Los Angeles, CA. Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Perform patient registration and pre-registration for outpatient and inpatient accounts.
  • Calculate and secure patient liability, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
  • Support insurance verification, billing accuracy, and patient account updates.
  • Provide excellent customer service in person and by phone in a high-volume healthcare setting.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a high-volume healthcare facility, hospital, medical office, or medical billing environment required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Insurance knowledge and billing experience strongly required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to work through multiple screens quickly.
  • Strong typing skills of 45 WPM or higher required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong English speaking, spelling, reading, and math skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent customer service and phone skills, preferably within the medical industry.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and supervisor direction accurately.
  • Strict adherence to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Driver's license and ability to travel to off-site locations required for outpatient assignments. Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of continuing education preferred.
  • Prior experience with patient access, hospital registration, or front-office medical administration preferred.
