The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in medical administrative support, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage patient interactions, scheduling, billing, and documentation review while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth office operations and delivering exceptional patient service. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk. Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software and coordinate patient flow. Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical billing with knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare and Medicaid. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate documentation review and data entry. Assist with medical coding tasks including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
coding to support billing processes and compliance requirements. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing patient records and sensitive information. Handle phone communication professionally, utilizing proper phone etiquette to address patient inquiries and appointment confirmations. Support administrative functions such as typing reports, managing office supplies, and performing basic clerical tasks using Microsoft Office tools. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation review and accurate care plan updates. Ensure the front desk area remains organized, clean, and welcoming at all times. Requirements Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a dental clinic environment with strong clerical skills. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms. Knowledge of medical billing procedures, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and health insurance processes including Medicare. Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA) and healthcare documentation standards. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining attention to detail. Bilingual capabilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills for administrative tasks. Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with health information management is a plus.
