Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a wide range of administrative responsibilities. Duties Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and efficiency Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing and collections with accuracy Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages Maintain accurate medical records, review documentation for completeness, and ensure compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies Assist with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and documentation review for billing purposes Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix to ensure proper data entry and record management Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, processing intake forms, and handling administrative support tasks such as filing and data entry Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and medical office management software Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and healthcare documentation standards Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA regulations Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and multi-line phone system operation Join our team where your enthusiasm meets purpose!
