Perform routine administrative appointment reminders and confirmations when required by established practice workflow. Follow up on missed appointments and recommended follow-up scheduling. Promptly complete scheduling actions communicated by the physician or Medical Assistant, including cancellations, postponements, rescheduling needs, incorrect appointment types, and recommended follow-up appointments. Accurately maintain patient demographics, contact information, insurance information, address, and preferred pharmacy in eClinicalWorks.
CLINICAL PRE-VISIT WORKFLOW BOUNDARY
Clinical pre-visit planning and 24-48-hour chart-readiness outreach remain primarily the responsibility of the Medical Assistant. This may include contacting patients regarding outstanding laboratory testing, imaging, specialist consultations, or other clinical information needed before a visit. The Front Desk is responsible for administrative follow-through, including scheduling changes and other front-office actions resulting from that clinical review. Insurance, Payments & Referrals Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments. Collect copays, deductibles, outstanding balances, and other applicable patient-responsibility amounts. Maintain primary responsibility for routine specialist-referral submission, referral-related insurance authorizations, administrative coordination, tracking, follow-up, and scheduling. The Front Desk remains accountable for assigned front-office responsibilities, while the Medical Assistant remains accountable for assigned clinical responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
