  • Prior experience in a medical practice and insurance knowledge is required
The Medical Receptionist:
provides assistance to patients, doctors, office employees, and other individuals. This employee helps the medical office run smoothly by scheduling appointments, greeting and checking in and out patients, verifying insurance plans and benefits, answering phones, maintaining accounts and records, and other tasks as needed.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Traveling between both locations Saint Pete and Clearwater as needed. Answer and screens telephone calls in a courteous manner, and record messages for physician and other personnel. Schedule patient appointments and procedures according to established policies and procedures. Obtain accurate information from patients and ensure all registration forms are complete. Collect patient and insurance payments and reconcile charges on a daily basis. Verify account balances and provide information to patients regarding unpaid balances. Obtain referrals for HMO plan from PCPs and prior authorization for in office procedures via availity or directly via insurance provider File records in appropriate sections of patient charts and prepare patient charts in advance. Maintain files and records in a confidential manner and patient confidentiality. Manage surgical calendars and adjust as needed for efficiency.
Education and Work Experience:
High school diploma/GED
  • required Scheduling surgical procedures
  • required Knowledge of insurance plans, deductibles, and authorization processes
  • required 1 year experience in healthcare at least
  • required Prior experience in a Dermatology practice and EMR (ModMed EMA) is highly preferred
