A Medical Secretary provides secretarial work that requires specialized knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, insurance and billing processes and medical records management. Works with physicians and other clinicians. May gather intake information from patients scheduled for appointments at an office.
As a Surgical Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the scheduling, coordination, and communication of surgical procedures. You will serve as the primary liaison between patients, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgery preparation and post-operative care. This postition is Mon-Fri, and based out of our Brockton office. Travel to other BUEA locations may be required on an occasional basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Scheduling :
Coordinate and schedule surgeries for patients. Ensure all necessary pre-operative tests and consultations are scheduled ahead of surgery.
Patient Communication :
Serve as the main point of contact for patients regarding surgery details, including preparation instructions, post-operative care, and follow-up appointments. Provide patients with clear, concise information to ensure they are fully informed.
Documentation Management :
Maintain accurate records of surgical cases, patient information, consent forms, and all necessary documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards. Coordination with
Surgical Team :
Communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other team members to ensure that all aspects of the surgery are prepared and organized.
Insurance Verification & Authorization :
Assist patients in verifying insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring financial arrangements are in place for surgery.
Compliance :
Ensure adherence to safety, medical, and legal protocols, and keep up to date with industry regulations and guidelines related to surgical procedures.
Problem Solving :
Address and resolve scheduling conflicts, patient inquiries, and any operational issues that may arise before or after surgery. Other duties as assigned : Fill in at ASC front desk as needed. Assist with office administration tasks, data entry, and other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experienced with electronic medical records. EPIC experience is a plus. At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferrably with a focus on surgery. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and healthcare protocols. Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Knowledge of insurance processes and medical billing is a plus.
Pay:
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour
