Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their appointments, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Schedule patient appointments efficiently while managing clinic calendars and coordinating with medical staff Collect and process medical payments and insurance claims using medical billing systems and perform medical collection activities Review and update patient records ensuring accuracy in documentation review, health information management, and compliance with HIPAA regulations Handle phone communication with patients, providers, and insurance companies using professional phone etiquette and clear communication skills Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems to document patient interactions, update care plans, and ensure proper coding including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for billing purposes Maintain office organization through filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing medical records in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies Assist with medical scheduling, appointment confirmations, and follow-up reminders to optimize clinic flow Support clinical staff by providing administrative support related to medical terminology, health insurance verification, and documentation review Experience Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic experience preferred Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable Familiarity with medical billing processes including Medicare claims processing and medical collection procedures Experience working with health insurance providers and understanding of health insurance policies and procedures Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with excellent typing skills (including 10 key typing) Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies, HIPAA compliance standards, and medical terminology is essential Previous dental clinic experience or familiarity with dental office workflows is advantageous but not required Exceptional customer service skills combined with strong clerical experience in a fast-paced environment Join us in making a difference by providing compassionate support at the front desk!
