Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify patient insurance information, process payments, and handle medical collections with professionalism. Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring proper coding with CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards for billing purposes. Answer incoming phone calls with courteous phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately and manage appointment reminders. Support clinical staff by preparing care plans documentation and assisting with medical record management. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for administrative tasks such as data entry, report generation, and correspondence. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth efficiently to ensure seamless health information management. Perform clerical duties including typing with 10-key accuracy, filing documents, and maintaining organized medical files. Ensure compliance with health insurance requirements such as Medicare guidelines during billing processes. Experience Prior clinic experience or medical office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with front desk operations is a plus. Strong computer skills including proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and health insurance procedures such as Medicare billing. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Bilingual abilities are a valuable asset to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated clerical experience supporting medical administrative functions in a healthcare setting. Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Strong organizational skills with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
