Job Description

Job Title:
Patient Services Representative Reports to: Provider on duty, Office Manager Job overview: Professionally represent the clinic to the public ensuring a professional and courteous environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Greet Patients and keep them informed of appointment status. Establish and maintain demographics and insurance information using on-line system Verify insurance eligibility Ensure efficient telephone communication Collect payments and co-payments for all services Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness towards patients and their families.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times for patients and physicians using computerized scheduling system Work as a team member within other front desk employees and all other clinic employees
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
SKILLS:
Medical terminology Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Basic typing and keyboarding skills. Customer service experience and experience with multi-line phones Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to prioritize responsibilities. Ability to multi-task effectively and calmly in busy or stressful situations Knowledge of contracted insurance plans and procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Hearing—adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone Speaking—must be able to communicate clearly to patients and coworkers in person and over the telephone Vision—visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screeds, and including visual examination of patients.
Other:
the position is mostly sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day with occasional bending and reaching. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing less than 10 pounds. Involves potential exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common in a clinical environment.
