Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist specializing in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine to join our healthcare team. In this vital front-line role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative duties. Your energetic approach and organizational skills will ensure smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and a welcoming environment for all patients. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care while honing your expertise in medical administrative support within a fast-paced medical office setting. Duties Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify patient information, and facilitate check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems Schedule appointments efficiently, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage clinic calendars to optimize provider availability. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, Collect payments and outstanding balances through medical collection processes while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality. Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; handle patient inquiries promptly and courteously. Maintain organized medical records, file documents systematically, and manage electronic health information using health information management software Assist with intake procedures for new patients and update existing patient information as needed. Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks such as data entry, typing reports, filing documents, and managing office supplies. Skills Proven experience in medical office management or administrative support within a healthcare setting; clinic or dental office experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of EMR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dr Chrono. Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), Medicare guidelines, and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliant documentation and billing practices. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (including 10-key), and familiarity with health information management software. Ability to perform insurance verification tasks accurately while managing medical billing processes efficiently. Strong organizational skills for scheduling appointments, managing patient records, filing documents, and handling multi-tasking responsibilities in a busy clinic environment.
