Job Description

Unit Secretary - Per Diem Southwoods Health is hiring a Per Diem Unit Secretary for our Inpatient Unit at The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods. In this role, you will support the workflow of physicians and clinical staff while ensuring the needs of patients and guests are handled quickly and appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
Support unit workflows and perform assigned administrative tasks for the department. Assign patient beds based on individual clinical needs and physician preferences. Complete the registration process for both planned and unplanned admissions. Scan test results into the EMR and log patient charges upon discharge. Communicate relevant clinical details to appropriate team members for interpretation. Answer and appropriately route incoming phone calls. Organize, maintain, and break down patient charts according to department protocol. Address and direct patient and guest needs to the appropriate staff members. Maintain compliance with regulatory agency standards (e.g., OSHA, ODH, BOP, TJC).
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical processes. Proficient computer and typing skills. Excellent communication, multitasking, and prioritization skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. High ethical standards and a professional demeanor at all times.
