- Medical Receptionist is responsible for the courteous and prompt processing of patients in the waiting area.
The
OVMG PRIMARY CARE
- Medical Receptionist is responsible for answering all incoming telephone calls and directing the calls to the appropriate personnel. The OVMG General Surgery
- Medical Receptionist will be cross-trained in other functions of the physician office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcomes and registers all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone Verifies the accuracy and completeness of patient clinical, demographic, and insurance information upon admission of the patient. Enters correct patient information into the medical software system at the time of admission. Facilitates patient flow by notifying the physician of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff Requests the patient or legal guardian read the Patient's Bill of Rights and Responsibilities and Notice of Privacy Practices. Collects co-pays, balances and pre-pays. Records and reconciles daily all monies collected at the front desk. Facilitates incoming and outgoing referrals, sending pertinent information to referring providers Prepares medical records as requested Schedules appointments, testing, imaging, and procedures Assists with surgical scheduling as needed Scans patient information into the EMR Organizes billing information, charges, and preauthorization information for billing company Responds to inquiries by patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PIH in plain sight and logging off computer before leaving it unattended May need to travel and work at satellite offices/locations. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate. Demonstrated ability to type 45 wpm. Comprehension of medical terminology. Minimum one (1) year receptionist experience in an ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or doctor's office. Must have experience using scheduling software. Must have experience using Windows 95 or NT. Excellent communication skills. Competency in oral and written skills. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to work under pressure.
