Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the front office operations of our medical practice, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. This role requires excellent customer service skills, empathy, proficiency in medical documentation, and familiarity with medical office procedures. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a warm and professional manner. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar using Athena software. Handle incoming calls, respond to non-clinical inquiries, and provide information about services offered. This includes returning phone calls made during lunch hour. Keep a spreadsheet with referrals, scan referrals into chart and fax notes back to referring physicians. Document closing the loop in the spreadsheet. Scan all patient records into electronic medical record. Collect copays and deductibles. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation review for compliance. Rooming in patients. Schedule procedures in the EMR. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication regarding patient care. Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Fill out brief school or work abscence notes. Requirements Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients. Proficiency in medical records management and documentation review processes. Familiarity with Athenahealth software is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism. Knowledge of medical billing and coding is a plus but not mandatory.
