E xamination:

Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of medical terminology including anatomy and physiology; the use of specified computer applications involving word processing, data entry and/or standard report generation; office administrative practices and procedures; record keeping principles; accurate and professional business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation. The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination. Employment Standards:

High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Completion of a course in medical terminology AND two (2) years of experience transcribing or scribing in a medical setting. Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 45 net words per minute. Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License upon appointment. Applicants must submit a copy of their typing or keyboard certificate, issued within the last two years, verifying a speed of 45 net words per minute and attach it with their completed application.
