Position Summary Gracious Life Care LLC is seeking a qualified, compassionate, and detail-oriented Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to perform VA disability medical assessments for Veterans at our Poughkeepsie, New York location. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity focused on conducting medical disability evaluations and documenting objective clinical findings related to Veterans' disability claims. This is not a traditional primary care position . Providers are generally not responsible for ongoing patient management, routine medication prescribing, long-term treatment plans, or maintaining a traditional patient panel. The primary responsibility is to perform thorough, objective medical assessments and complete the required documentation accurately and promptly. We welcome experienced VA disability examiners as well as qualified NPs and PAs who have strong clinical assessment and documentation skills and are interested in entering the VA disability examination field. Responsibilities Conduct in-person medical disability assessments for U.S. Veterans. Review available medical records, service treatment records, diagnostic reports, and relevant medical history. Obtain and document comprehensive medical histories related to claimed conditions. Perform appropriate physical examinations based on the conditions being evaluated. Perform range-of-motion and other condition-specific examinations when required. Document objective clinical findings and functional limitations. Complete applicable Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and other required examination documentation. Provide clear, objective, and medically supported clinical findings. Prepare medical opinions and supporting rationales when requested and appropriate to the provider's scope of practice. Complete examination reports accurately and within required turnaround times. Respond promptly to requests for clarification or additional documentation. Maintain confidentiality of Veteran medical information and comply with applicable HIPAA and privacy requirements. Follow established disability examination protocols, quality standards, and documentation requirements. Maintain a professional, respectful, and compassionate environment for every Veteran being evaluated. Minimum Qualifications Current and unrestricted New York State Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license . Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Current national board certification appropriate to the provider's profession. Strong physical examination and clinical assessment skills. Excellent medical documentation and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to review and interpret medical records. Ability to work independently and manage assigned examinations efficiently. Comfortable using electronic and web-based medical documentation systems. Ability to complete required credentialing, background screening, and training. Reliable transportation to the Poughkeepsie, NY examination location. Preferred Qualifications Previous VA disability assessment experience is preferred but not required .

VA Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations. Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs). Independent medical or disability examinations. Primary care or family medicine. Internal medicine. Urgent care. Occupational medicine. Musculoskeletal examinations. Reviewing military or Veteran medical records. Preparing medical opinions and clinical rationales. Training may be available for qualified providers without previous VA disability assessment experience. What This Position Does NOT Typically Involve This is an assessment-focused opportunity rather than a traditional patient-care position. Providers generally will not be responsible for: Maintaining an ongoing patient panel. Long-term patient management. Routine medication prescribing. Developing ongoing treatment plans. Hospital rounds. Inpatient care. Your primary focus will be examining Veterans, documenting objective medical findings, and completing high-quality disability assessment reports. Contractors are responsible for their own applicable federal, state, and local taxes and other obligations associated with independent contractor status. Specific examination availability and workload may vary depending on scheduling needs and Veteran examination volume. Schedule Flexible scheduling may be available.
