Located on a scenic 75-acre campus along Connecticut's Connecticut River in East Haddam, adjacent to the 700-acre Chapman Pond Preserve, Franklin is an active part of the local community with convenient access to Hartford, New Haven, New York City, and Boston. Position Overview Franklin Academy's Health Center EMT-B / Medical Assistant / Medication Technician / LPN is a per-diem, part-time, hourly position focused on supporting student health and wellness. Working under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, this role assists with medication administration, basic Health Center operations, documentation, vital signs, minor first aid, and student support. The position includes flexible morning, mid-day, and evening shifts based on Health Center needs, including medication passes at various points throughout the day. Candidates should be comfortable walking across campus, assisting students, and performing light clinical tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities Medication Administration Support:
Assist with scheduled medication passes (e.g., lunchtime, dinner, bedtime) following appropriate training and delegation. Document medication administration in accordance with Health Center protocols. Monitor for and promptly report any side effects or concerns to licensed staff.
Basic Health Center Operations:
Perform non-clinical support tasks such as vital signs collection, assisting with minor first aid (e.g., bandaging), and documenting within student health records. Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas. Assist with inventory restocking and supply management.
Student Engagement and Safety:
Foster positive interactions with students in a calm and supportive manner. Escort students to and from the Health Center for medication times as needed. Support wellness education initiatives in collaboration with Health Center staff.
Compliance and Communication:
Adhere to Franklin Academy's procedures, respecting privacy and
FERPA/HIPAA
guidelines. Promptly escalate health concerns to supervising RN, LPN, or EMT-P. Accurately record observations and interventions.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Active certification as EMT-B (NREMT preferred), Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), or Medication Technician (Med Tech), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Current CPR/BLS certification. Strong interpersonal skills with a student-first mindset. Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from licensed staff.
Preferred:
Experience in school health, pediatric care, or behavioral health environments. Familiarity with neurodiverse populations. Basic proficiency with electronic health records (EHR).
Compensation & Benefits Status:
Per-Diem | Part-Time/Hourly | Shifts available Weekday and/or
Weekends Rate:
