Every Other Weekend Position Summary The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) supports the nursing and clinical teams by safely administering medications, monitoring residents, and contributing to a structured, therapeutic, and trauma‑informed environment within the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF II). This position requires strong observational skills, professional judgment, emotional resilience, and the ability to work effectively with children and adolescents experiencing complex behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric needs. The CMA performs delegated nursing tasks in accordance with state regulations, facility policy, and under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Medication Administration Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with state regulations, physician orders, and facility policies. Accurately document all medication administration in the Medication Administration Record (MAR). Report medication errors, refusals, omissions, or adverse reactions immediately to licensed nursing staff. Maintain medication security, including proper storage, counts, handling, and disposal procedures. Resident Monitoring and Support Observe residents for changes in behavior, mood, physical condition, or functioning and report concerns promptly to nursing or clinical staff. Monitor residents for side effects or adverse responses to psychotropic and other medications. Support residents during daily routines, transitions, and therapeutic activities while maintaining professional boundaries. Utilize trauma‑informed and de‑escalation‑focused approaches when interacting with residents. Clinical and Behavioral Collaboration Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and direct care staff to support individualized treatment plans. Participate in shift handoffs, team meetings, and incident reviews as requested. Assist with vital signs, basic health assessments, and related documentation under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Safety, Compliance, and Crisis Response Follow all PRTF II regulatory standards, including supervision ratios, documentation requirements, and safety protocols. Maintain awareness of resident supervision levels and ensure requirements are followed at all times. Assist during crisis situations using approved, non‑physical intervention strategies unless trained and authorized otherwise. Complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training as required. Uphold confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and facility privacy standards. Environment and Daily Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and secure medication room and nursing station. Support unit routines including hygiene monitoring, meal observation, and scheduled activities as assigned. Assist with inventory management of medications and medical supplies. Additional Responsibilities Attend required training, meetings, and competency reviews. Maintain professional conduct consistent with facility values and ethical standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing. Minimum Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required Active Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification required Experience Familiarity with trauma‑informed care principles Experience in residential treatment, psychiatric care, or juvenile services preferred Understanding of psychotropic medications and common side effects preferred Demonstrated ability to build rapport with youth while maintaining professional boundaries Key Competencies Physical Requirements The physical requirements listed below represent those required to perform the essential functions of this position.
