Certified Medication Aide (CMA) / Patient Care Assistant (PCA)

6-12 Months, with option to extend (not to exceed 12 months total)

Both Day and Night Shifts Available Key Responsibilities:

Perform direct patient care duties, including taking and recording vital signs. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene needs. Obtain laboratory specimens as directed. Observe, chart, and report changes in patient condition to supervising medical staff. Perform delegated and specialized patient care duties within certification and training guidelines. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment. Order, receive, store, and maintain medical and office supplies. Perform basic clerical and record-keeping functions. Participate in patient follow-up activities and client tracking. Schedule appointments and coordinate related healthcare services. Assist with outreach efforts, case finding, and recruitment of at-risk individuals for comprehensive health services. Follow all nursing and medical directives while supporting facility healthcare operations.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum one (1) year of experience providing patient care. Current certification in good standing as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) . Ability to provide patient care under nursing or medical supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current certification in good standing for: Glucose Monitoring Insulin Administration Experience working in correctional, long-term care, hospital, or clinical healthcare settings.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of basic nursing practices and patient care techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology, sanitation practices, and personal hygiene standards. Understanding of record keeping and documentation procedures. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to interview, observe, and interact professionally with patients and staff. Ability to accurately record observations and patient activities. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to apply basic nursing and patient care techniques safely and effectively.

Additional Requirements:

Completion of ODOC Online Training (16 Modules) is required before reporting to the facility. Training time is not billable to ODOC. Documentation of completed training must be submitted to the Facility Nurse Manager before assignment. Candidates must be willing to work assigned day or night shifts. Drug and Alcohol Testing Required.
