Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar environments, and will be responsible for administering medications and providing essential care to residents. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient care protocols, and the ability to work effectively with individuals with various health conditions, including Alzheimer's, dementia, and other developmental disabilities. Duties Administer medications to residents as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications. Assist with daily living activities and provide personal care as needed. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Conduct regular assessments of residents' vital signs and report any changes in health status. Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documenting patient care activities. Provide support in memory care programs for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia. Engage with residents to promote their well-being and enhance their quality of life. Qualifications Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or home care settings is preferred. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and documentation practices is essential. Familiarity with medication administration procedures and techniques such as tube feeding and catheter care. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice care is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to providing high-quality patient care while maintaining confidentiality and respect for residents' dignity. Certification as a Medication Technician or equivalent training is required.
