Job Description

Join our team as a Direct Care Worker and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. ## Overview Under general supervision, with increasing independence in performance of duties, assists in rehabilitation services to individuals served by the Odyssey House Program, a Social Rehabilitation Facility, and performs related work as assigned. Compliance with Federal and State regulations pertaining to this position, and the policies and procedures set forth in writing for this position, are mandatory requirements of employment. We have a variety of shifts available at this time. There is a $500 hiring bonus for qualified candidate (half on first paycheck/second half at end of 90 days). ##This is the entry level in the Direct Service Worker classification. The DSWI functions in a training capacity, receiving close supervision with emphasis in on-the-job training. This class differs from Direct Service Worker II in that the DSWI initially receives in-service training in the basics of individual and group counseling for use in mental health programs. Assignment of duties will vary dependent on specific program needs. ## Examples of Duties
  • Assists in preparing and supervising clients' progress toward individual milestones.
  • Provides information to other staff responsible for diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
  • Collects and records pertinent social data.
  • Maintains effective communication among program staff and as needed, with other community agencies.
  • Participates and assists in group sessions. ## Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Willingness to receive Basic First Aid training (American Red Cross certified) within the first 60 days of employment. Possession of the strength and agility to perform Basic First Aid in an emergency.
  • Possession of the strength and agility to respond immediately to assist individuals in crisis.
In addition to mental health needs, Odyssey House clientele sometimes experience physical disabilities and need assistance during fire drills or other urgent situations.
