Classroom Support Assistant Paid Part-Time | In Person | College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA Help a College Student Focus in Class and Develop Study Skills Elia Cares is seeking a warm, dependable, and encouraging Classroom Support Assistant to provide one-on-one support to a neurodivergent college student attending College of the Canyons. This is a meaningful, hands-on role for someone who enjoys helping others, is interested in how people learn, and wants to gain experience in education, psychology, counseling, neurodiversity, ADHD, executive functioning, or a related helping profession. Training and ongoing guidance will be provided by a master's-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst. You will attend college classes with the student and provide calm, respectful support with focus, organization, participation, pacing, and follow-through. Your role is not to complete work for the student or speak for her. Instead, you will help her understand what is expected, stay connected to the class, use helpful strategies, and become increasingly independent. What You'll Do Attend scheduled classes with the student at College of the Canyons Help the student remain focused and engaged during lectures and classroom activities Provide respectful reminders and redirection when attention shifts Help the student identify important instructions, deadlines, and next steps Support note-taking, assignment tracking, and organization of class materials Break larger tasks or directions into smaller, more manageable steps Help the student recognize when a short break may be useful Support the student in returning to classwork after a break Encourage self-advocacy, problem-solving, and appropriate communication with instructors Communicate relevant observations and updates to the supervising clinician Participate in training, coaching, and team meetings as scheduled Follow individualized support strategies while respecting the student's privacy, preferences, and independence Depending on availability and fit, this position may also include opportunities to support executive functioning and daily living skills during home-based sessions.
