Full Job Description TITLE:
BEHAVIORAL/PHYSICAL NEEDS ASSISTANT I QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or GED. 2. Experience in working with children (preferred). 3. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with assigned teacher(s) and school staff. 4. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
1. Assists students with physical needs (may include feeding, toileting, diapering, non-invasive procedures, use of equipment, scribing, notetaking, transferring, transporting around the school campus). 2. Assists with physical mobility of students individually and/or as part of a team. 3. Assists students with behavioral needs (may include implementing behavior plans, recording data, redirecting students, using appropriate management techniques, as directed by the teacher). 4. Performs bus, lunchroom and playground responsibilities as assigned by the teacher. 5. Assists the teacher in preparing, organizing, disbursing, and storing equipment, materials and supplies necessary to perform their job junctions. 6. Assists in keeping the classroom and school environment neat and attractive. 7. Assists in ensuring that the overall environment is designed for the overall safety, care and enrichment of the children. 8. Maintains professionalism in all school matters.
Performance Effectiveness Criteria:
In addition to the employee being responsible for each of the performance responsibilities listed herein, periodic and special reports to the Board and other entities will be provided regarding the impact of this position with respect to progress toward annually established District and department goals and objectives for, but not necessarily limited to, the following areas: 1) Student Performance, 2) Customer Service, 3) Fiscal Accountability and Responsibility, 4) Process Efficiencies and Improvements, and 5) Employee Learning and Growth.

Effective October 5, 2015, all persons new, rehired, or transferred to this job classification must successfully complete the Physical Demands Testing requirement. Persons must be capable of frequently lifting/ carrying/ pushing/ pulling up to 20 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs; as part of a team up to 100 lbs; heavy physical activity required.
