Immediately Job Description Behavior Interventionist, HEART Therapeutic Classroom Program (hosted in Winterset Community Schools) Job Overview The Behavior Interventionist will provide support services to children/youth in the therapeutic classrooms located within the Winterset Community Schools, under the direction of a licensed teacher and mental health specialist on a 199-day contract. The behavior interventionist will be a member of a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to support the design, implementation, and decision-making regarding therapeutic classroom support. This position is responsible for assisting the classroom team (teacher, teacher associate, and mental health specialist) in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students with social emotional, behavior, and mental health challenges as well as assisting with de-escalating behaviors and reintegration back into the classroom setting.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong team building, interpersonal skills, classroom behavior management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated successful experience working with students with social/emotional/behavioral/mental health challenges, as well as students with disabilities. Qualified candidates will also have background knowledge of best practices in behavioral programming. Two years of post-secondary education or paraeducator certification is required.
