Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Youth Peer Support Specialist to empower young individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. In this vital role, you will serve as a relatable guide and advocate, sharing your personal recovery journey to inspire hope and resilience. Duties Provide peer support and mentorship to youth experiencing mental health conditions, substance use issues, or co-occurring disorders, utilizing shared lived experience to foster hope and motivation Engage clients in recovery planning, goal setting, and skill development through motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies Assist youth in navigating behavioral health services, community resources, and crisis intervention when necessary Maintain strict confidentiality of client information while documenting interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems Conduct crisis management by de-escalating situations using behavioral health techniques and crisis intervention skills Advocate for culturally diverse communities by respecting individual backgrounds and tailoring support approaches accordingly Share personal recovery experiences to inspire resilience and promote peer-led advocacy efforts Skills Strong understanding of crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health principles Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders Proficiency in motivational interviewing, harm reduction, addiction counseling, and social work practices Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations while maintaining sensitivity and respect for individual differences Excellent client communication skills with an emphasis on active listening and empathetic engagement Knowledge of peer support advocacy techniques and sharing personal recovery stories to motivate others Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards Join us in transforming lives through compassionate peer support!
