Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of students as a contract paraprofessional in a dynamic school environment near Harvey, LA. This full-time opportunity invites compassionate professionals to contribute to lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classrooms, supporting students with unique communication and behavioral needs, including those with Autism and related disabilities. Your commitment and expertise will play a meaningful role in each student's educational journey.
Desired Qualifications:
Associates Degree OR a ParaPro assessment score of 450 or above OR completion of 48 semester credit hours (required by the district) Proven classroom experience working with children, especially those with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges Ability to read and interpret IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
Preferred:
CPI and de-escalation training, significant behavior management background, and current CPR certification Must be able to pass district-required drug screening, fingerprinting, and a comprehensive background check
Key Responsibilities:
Support individualized student learning and behavioral plans in both one-on-one and small group settings Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment, assisting teachers with daily tasks and adapting activities to suit students' abilities Employ effective de-escalation and positive behavior strategies to handle challenging situations Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to implement IEP goals and encourage student progress Perks of the
