Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Support Specialist to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals navigating behavioral health challenges. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between clients and recovery resources, providing peer support, mentorship, and advocacy to foster hope, resilience, and sustained recovery. Your personal experience with recovery will inspire others and help create a supportive environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and motivated to achieve their goals. Responsibilities Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders, sharing personal recovery experiences to foster hope. Assist clients in developing recovery plans, setting goals, and identifying community resources aligned with their needs. Utilize crisis management skills to respond effectively during mental health or substance use crises, employing crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction strategies. Engage in client communication through motivational interviewing and client-centered approaches to promote engagement and motivation for change. Advocate for clients' needs within healthcare systems and community organizations, ensuring access to appropriate services while maintaining strict confidentiality standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans that address behavioral health needs holistically. Support clients in practicing harm reduction principles and developing coping skills for managing symptoms or cravings. Requirements Personal experience with recovery from mental health conditions or substance use disorders is highly valued; sharing your journey can inspire others. Knowledge of behavioral health concepts, addiction counseling, mental health counseling, and social work principles. Proven crisis management and crisis intervention skills to handle urgent situations safely and effectively. Experience working with culturally diverse communities with sensitivity and respect for individual backgrounds. Strong client communication skills, including motivational interviewing techniques and client advocacy. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality while building trusting relationships with clients.
