GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Playground Aide is responsible for supervising students during recess to ensure their safety, well-being, and enjoyment. This role involves overseeing outdoor and indoor recess activities, guiding students in social interactions, and supporting positive behavior in a school setting. The Playground Aide will assist in creating a safe, engaging, and respectful environment while promoting physical activity and social interaction.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Supervise students during recess, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
Monitor student behavior and intervene as needed to prevent conflicts or unsafe actions.
Encourage students to engage in appropriate physical and social activities.
Support students in resolving conflicts and promoting positive social interactions.
Ensure students are following safety guidelines, school rules, and expectations.
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe playground or indoor recess area.
Report any incidents or injuries to the appropriate school personnel promptly.
Communicate with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student behavior or concerns.
Maintain awareness of students' physical, emotional, and social needs.
Provide encouragement and assist students in developing healthy social skills and teamwork.
Assist with transitions, ensuring students return to class in an orderly and timely manner.
Help in classrooms and with office duties as needed
Performs other duties as directed by supervisor
CONDITIONS OF JOB
Ability to stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periods of time.
Ability to interact with students on the playground, including bending, kneeling, or lifting children if necessary.
Work is performed in outdoor or indoor playground settings, often in varying weather conditions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
9 Month Employment Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel. Applications will be screened as they are submitted. Job will remain posted until filled.
