Job Description

DTU Management is looking for an Associate Professor or Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Sustainable Travel Behaviour to join ourTransportation Science Division. In this position, you will contribute to research and teaching within travel behaviour andsustainable mobility and become part of an internationally recognized research environment with strong links to policymakers, publicauthorities, and industry. The position offers a unique platform to conduct pioneering research in Sustainable Travel Behaviour,connected to DTU's broader ecosystem of technological knowledge and innovation within the transportation sector. The TransportationDivision is an internationally recognized research environment with strong expertise in transport and mobility. Our interdisciplinary teambrings together researchers from fields such as engineering, economics, psychology, data science, computer science, mathematics, andstatistics. We deliver ground-breaking fundamental research as well as research-based insights and tools for policymakers andindustry. We collaborate closely with research communities in Denmark and abroad, and with Danish authorities. This includes a largeon-going contract with the Ministry of Transport, under which we provide policy support to solve the great challenges in the transportsector. This includes responsibility for the national travel survey. Human behaviour and its underlying drivers are embeddedthroughout our research on transport systems and mobility. Our research creates a foundation for policy support related to key challenges inthe sector, such as the green transition, mobility for all user groups, congestion and pressured land use both in large cities and ruralsettings; equity, safety, and risk; and derived negative externalities of transport. The overarching focus of the position isunderstanding human mobility and sustainable travel behaviour when planning transportation systems. This should also be seen in a broadercontext understanding how urban and rural surroundings influence travel behaviour, and based upon this formulating policies and regulationsfor more sustainable mobility. The position is full-time and based at DTU Lyngby campus, just north of Copenhagen. Responsibilities and qualifications We seek an Associate Professor or Tenure Track Assistant Professorwho can advance research and practice on travel behaviour, deepening our understanding of behaviour, preferences, and choices, and theirunderlying drivers. You have a strong track record in research at an international level. Over the years, we expect you to developacademic leadership, attract external funding, teach undergraduate and graduate students, strengthen our research-based advice, andcontribute to a fruitful environment based on the position. Particular emphasis will be on public sector support, scientific advice, andsocietal impact on the transport domain.
You will bring the following:
A PhD in a relevant topic anddiscipline related to travel behaviour, e.g. from Transportation Science, Social Data Science, Economics, Psychology, Geography or UrbanPlanning, with a quantitative evidence-oriented profile Experience of application areas within the transport domain, possiblyrelated to land use, and a strong publications record in these areas Experience with, or a strong interest in, scientific advice andpublic sector consultancy in the transport domain, along with strong skills in sector collaboration A solid national andinternational network within and beyond academia An ambition to push boundaries and define future research agendas that addresssocietal challenges As a candidate, you should have a high potential for creative and independent research, willingness tocollaborate and interact with other researchers, the ability to teach courses at different levels, to engage in scientific advice and todisseminate research in seminars, conferences and in the classroom, as well as to the wider public. You will also be responsible for theteaching of student courses.
DTU employs two working languages:
Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one ofthese languages, and with time are expected to master both. As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Ifyou are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holdingan assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.
