Job Summary

The Discretionary Aide at Clinton Middle School provides versatile instructional, behavioral, and administrative support to enhance the learning environment. Working under the direct supervision of certified teachers and school administration, this role adapts to the shifting daily needs of the high school—whether assisting students one-on-one with academic coursework, monitoring student behavior, or assisting with campus supervision and administrative tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Aides in this role must be highly adaptable. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Instructional Support:

Assist certified teachers in reinforcing academic concepts with individual students or small groups (e.g., remedial reading, math, or credit recovery support).

Student Monitoring & Safety:

Monitor student behavior in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, and during arrival/dismissal times to ensure a safe, orderly school environment.

Behavioral Intervention:

Provide a positive, encouraging adult presence for high school students, assisting with conflict resolution or helping students stay focused on their goals.

Administrative & Clerical Support:

Assist teachers and the front office with grading objective assignments, organizing classroom materials, managing attendance records, or preparing instructional resources.

Technology Assistance:

Help students navigate school-issued devices, online learning management systems (like Canvas or Google Classroom), and educational software.

Flexibility:

Fulfill temporary coverage duties or special project assignments as directed by the building principal to support school operations.
