Job description The Arc Lane County is adding multiple Part-time Children's Activity & Respite Assistants to our Team. The Children's Activity & Respite Assistants will be responsible for creating a fun and exciting, inclusive, childcare environment full of games, crafts, and other activities while parents attend evening and weekend community events. This position is very part-time, averaging 10-20 hours per month . Assistants are eligible to schedule more evening/weekend hours beyond those days. (Our agency welcomes applicants who are interested in working within multiple departments, or are interested in full-time hours, as well.) This is a fantastic opportunity for Educational Assistants, Direct Support Professionals and College Students with limited weekday availability, or for those who want very part-time hours to supplement other income!

Qualifications & Skills:
Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Possess childcare, disability, mental health, or behavioral support experience. Be reliable and passionate about providing the highest quality of care to children of all ages. Excellent communication & listening skills. Familiarity leading group activities for children of all ages and abilities.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Assist in carrying out planned childcare activities in cooperation with other childcare personnel. Monitor and instruct groups of children in safe socialization, game play, and activities. Participate in the set up and take down of activity space, including a variety of cleaning functions. Inspect area and activities for safety concerns. Prepare and serve meals & snacks. Administer routine first aid and seek assistance for serious illness or injuries as necessary. Assist in feeding, toileting, and personal care of children as necessary. Demonstrate an empathetic, patient, and understanding attitude toward childcare participants, their families, coworkers, volunteers, and community partners. Frequent walking, standing, crouching, bending, and sitting for long periods of time. The ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
