Job Description

Shift:
Monday-off Tuesday 8a-8p Wednesday 8a-5p Thursday 8a-8p Friday 8a-5p Must be capable of handling both Medical Assistant and Front Desk duties as needed to support patient care. Salary based one experience This position is primarily responsible for performing a variety of duties for the Health Center of Southeast Texas Mental Health Services department. This position is primarily placed in the Cleveland clinic, however travel to other clinic locations may be required.
Primary administrative duties:
Provide general information to callers regarding mental health service (e.g.; counseling/testing and age groups seen), Schedule psychiatric or counseling visits, Verify mental health benefits or perform precertification or prior authorizations prior to visits if required by funding source, Obtain custody paperwork for minor patients when parents are legally divorced or when the parent has legal custody of the patient and is not the biological parent, and Ensure registration (included but not limited to consents, verification, prior auth, etc) for behavioral health, tele-health and type of tele-heath visit (HELO, Zoom, or Doximity) are completed, accurate and uploaded into the medical record.
Primary care responsibilities:
Triage patients; record patient's health and emotional complaints, obtain vitals, update health histories, gather information regarding labs, diagnostics, hospitalizations, perform medication reconciliation and assess need for refills. Assist the mental health specialist or counselor with referrals to outside providers or appropriate community resources. Promptly communicate urgent or high-risk patient or caller concerns to the psychiatric specialist or counselor so that 'crisis' visits can be scheduled or other agencies contacted as appropriate to ensure the safety of the patient and/or others. Ensure timely refill of medications pertinent to behavioral stability. Responds to BH customer complaints, problems, and requests. Follows up to ensure closure.
