Experience:

We are seeking dependable, professional, and compassionate Behavioral Health Technicians / Recovery Support Staff who are passionate about working in the behavioral health and substance use treatment field. Candidates with previous experience working in Detox, Residential Treatment, PHP, IOP, behavioral health, mental health, or substance use disorder treatment settings are strongly encouraged to apply. Recovery Requirement Candidates must be clean and sober and comply with our Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy. Because this position involves frequent and intensive interaction with individuals who may be in the early stages of recovery, a minimum of one year of consecutive abstinence from drugs and alcohol is required. This requirement is intended to promote a safe, stable, professional, and recovery-focused environment for both clients and staff. Position Overview As a Behavioral Health Technician / Recovery Support Staff Member , you will play an important role in supporting the safety, structure, and overall well-being of our clients. Staff members work directly with clients throughout their treatment experience while maintaining professional boundaries, completing required documentation, conducting safety checks, assisting with daily programming, and communicating important client information to the treatment team. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, professional, comfortable working in a structured treatment environment, and able to remain calm and use sound judgment when responding to challenging situations. Responsibilities Maintain a safe, structured, professional, and recovery-focused environment for clients. Conduct regularly scheduled client monitoring, safety rounds, and facility checks. Observe clients for changes in behavior, mood, physical condition, or overall functioning. Accurately document client observations, behaviors, incidents, interventions, and other significant events. Complete required documentation within designated timeframes. Provide appropriate emotional support and assistance to clients while maintaining professional boundaries. Support clients in following facility schedules, rules, expectations, and treatment programming. Assist with client admissions, orientation, and transition into the treatment environment when needed. Assist with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and verbal de-escalation when necessary. Communicate client concerns or significant changes to appropriate clinical, medical, or supervisory staff. Collaborate with therapists, case managers, medical staff, admissions staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Support individualized treatment goals and client care plans as directed by the treatment team. Assist with scheduled groups and treatment programming when appropriate. Maintain client confidentiality and follow all applicable HIPAA, privacy, and ethical standards. Follow facility policies, procedures, safety protocols, and Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace requirements. Maintain appropriate staff-to-client boundaries at all times. Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development. Complete additional client-support and facility responsibilities as assigned. Preferred Treatment Experience We are especially interested in candidates who have previous experience with: Substance use disorder treatment Detoxification / withdrawal management Residential treatment PHP or IOP programs Behavioral health or mental health facilities Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) responsibilities Recovery support or residential technician positions Client safety rounds and observation Behavioral health documentation Electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), including Kipu experience Crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation Client admissions and orientation Supporting treatment groups and programming Working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in substance use treatment, behavioral health, mental health, residential treatment, detox, or a related environment is strongly preferred. Additional education or certifications in psychology, behavioral health, addiction studies, counseling, social services, or a related field are a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, clinical staff, and outside parties. Compassionate and non-judgmental approach when working with individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions during emergency, behavioral, or crisis situations. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced treatment environment. Basic computer skills and ability to accurately complete electronic documentation. Reliable attendance and dependable transportation. Must successfully complete all required background checks and screenings. Minimum of one year of consecutive abstinence from drugs and alcohol required.
