Primary Mental Health Residential Med Tech Part-Time to Full-Time | Swing Shift Preferred Job Overview We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Mental Health Residential Med Tech to join our Primary Mental Health Residential Treatment team. This position is responsible for supporting residents with medication routines, activities of daily living, behavioral health needs, safety monitoring, and clinical documentation. The ideal candidate has experience working in a residential behavioral health setting and understands the structure, professional boundaries, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements associated with Primary Mental Health Residential Treatment. We are primarily hiring for the swing shift , although candidates with flexible or open availability are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Assist residents with medication self-administration in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and applicable regulations. Complete medication documentation, including Medication Administration Records, medication counts, shift notes, and incident documentation. Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, behavioral changes, and changes in physical or mental health status. Immediately report medication discrepancies, missed doses, adverse reactions, safety concerns, or significant changes in condition to the appropriate supervisor or licensed medical professional. Provide direct resident support, including assistance and prompting with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, meals, and maintaining a clean living environment. Conduct scheduled safety rounds and document resident location, presentation, behaviors, and level of participation. Monitor and document vital signs as directed by facility policy and the resident's treatment plan. Support residents experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, mood instability, psychosis, suicidal ideation, self-harm urges, and other co-occurring behavioral health conditions. Use approved crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques when residents become emotionally or behaviorally dysregulated. Facilitate or support structured therapeutic, psychoeducational, recreational, and independent-living activities. Maintain professional boundaries and provide trauma-informed, respectful, and recovery-oriented care. Complete accurate, timely, objective, and clinically appropriate documentation in KIPU or other assigned electronic medical record systems. Participate in shift change reports and communicate relevant clinical, medication, behavioral, and safety information to incoming staff. Follow individualized treatment plans, safety plans, behavioral agreements, physician orders, and staff directives. Assist with admissions, belongings inventories, room checks, discharge preparation, transportation, and other program operations as assigned. Follow all applicable California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Joint Commission, DHCS, confidentiality, infection-control, medication-management, and resident-rights requirements . Maintain a safe, structured, professional, and therapeutic residential environment. Perform additional duties as assigned by program leadership. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience

REQUIRED

, with up to two years strongly preferred , in Primary Mental Health Residential Treatment level of care. Prior experience as a Mental Health Technician, Behavioral Health Technician, Residential Technician, or Med Tech is preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certification is required. Must successfully complete a CDSS-compliant Live Scan and DOJ/FBI criminal background clearance . Must complete or provide a current tuberculosis screening and any other health clearances required by the facility. Knowledge of medication assistance, medication documentation, controlled-medication counts, and medication-error reporting procedures. Working knowledge of applicable CDSS, Community Care Licensing, Joint Commission, and DHCS standards for residential behavioral health programs. Experience working with residents who have multiple diagnoses, including trauma-related disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, and suicidal or self-harming behaviors. Knowledge of crisis prevention, suicide-risk precautions, professional boundaries, and verbal de-escalation techniques. Ability to complete clear, objective, timely, and professional clinical documentation. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical record systems. Knowledge of KIPU is strongly preferred. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Must demonstrate reliability, sound judgment, emotional maturity, and the ability to work independently during assigned shifts. Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies and follow the facility's chain of command. Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record when resident transportation is required.
