Job Description

Bristol is looking for an experienced and compassionate leader to oversee our Behavioral Health Technician team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication, sound judgment, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, and structured environment for patients and staff.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Supervise and support Behavioral Health Technicians while ensuring appropriate staffing, patient safety, accurate documentation, and compliance with facility policies. Work closely with nursing and facility leadership to coordinate patient-care activities and maintain consistent standards across all shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate Behavioral Health Technicians. Coordinate schedules and maintain appropriate staffing coverage. Monitor staff attendance, performance, conduct, and compliance with procedures. Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees. Ensure patient observations, headcounts, safety checks, and documentation are completed accurately and on time. Promote a positive, supportive, and structured treatment environment. Respond to behavioral escalations, emergencies, and patient-safety concerns. Communicate significant patient observations to nursing staff. Review incident reports, shift documentation, and patient records for accuracy. Facilitate staff meetings, shift huddles, and ongoing employee education. Support nursing staff and perform Behavioral Health Technician duties when necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, safety, and regulatory requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree in a related field preferred. Previous behavioral health, mental health, substance-use treatment, or patient-care experience required. Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies. Basic computer skills and experience with electronic health records preferred. Must complete all required background screenings, training, and certifications. CPR, First Aid, and crisis-prevention certification required or must be obtained within the designated timeframe. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours as needed.
