Works under the direction of a physician and works with specialists involved in mental health care, such as psychiatrists and therapists. Monitors patient symptoms and administers medications. Works in a mental health facility or in a hospital or other healthcare facility.
Responsibilities Patient Care Tech/Mental Health Tech PRN Patient Tech - Mental Health Unit Turning Point Care Center has an opening for a PRN Patient Tech/Mental Health Tech (MHT). MHTs play a vital role in providing excellent care for our patients and are a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists in total client care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches. Provide direct patient care within a multidiscipline team approach. Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment. Completes patient safety rounds timely. Maintain accurate and complete data and records. Intervenes with suicidal gestures, inappropriate behaviors, elopements, etc., using proper Crisis Prevention/De-escalation techniques. Therapeutically communicate with patients. Assists in developing appropriate boundaries and helps to develop social skills. Directs/redirects behaviors, demonstrating appropriate behavioral consequences. Responds appropriately to impulsivity issues as they relate to age specific criteria. Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under their care. Completes other duties as assigned. This position's hours are 5:30pm to 6:00am or 5:30pm to 6:00am. Let us know which one you are interested in. This position is eligible for shift differentials.
