We at Fairview are looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location on the University of Minnesota Campus! At our Child and Adolescent Intensive Treatment Center unit, we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team in providing mental health support for children and adolescents aged 4-18. We're committed to fostering therapeutic engagement through group activities, Occupational Therapy (OT), Therapeutic Recreation (TR), and other therapeutic groups to aid in our young patients' recovery journey. Whether they arrive subdued and depressed or in a state of decompensation and mania, we maintain strict safety guidelines to ensure their well-being. We also provide care to many children with autism and ASD. This can be an intense unit. This role is approved for 48 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, working 8-hour shifts, 11:00 PM
  • 7:30 AM and every other weekend with a variable schedule.
This position is SEIU benefit eligible. The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the direction of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. Responsibilities Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned: Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation. Conducts room, belonging and unit searches. Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained. Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration. Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan. Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of mental health diagnoses and therapeutic interactions and milieu management. Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan. Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy. Participates in the treatment team's mission, goals and plans. Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team. Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner. Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures. ADLs & Physical Support Provide light to medium ADL assistance, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating and mobility support. Assist with supplies, setup, and patient direction regarding basic care routines. Provide mobility support appropriate to training (e.g., gait belts, wheelchair assistance). Required Qualifications 2 years Experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting (NA, NST, PCA, behavioral tech, etc.) AND Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs. First aid certification required through the American Heart Association if assigned to work on a chemical dependency unit. Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN) Preferred Qualifications
B.S./B.A.
in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Health Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field. Experience in inpatient, ED, behavioral health, EMT/paramedic, emergency medical services or other related higher acuity settings such as a school, residential treatment facility, group home, etc.

Looking to work in role that will make a difference in the community? We at Fairview Health Services is looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location at our 7ITC (Intensive Treatment Center) is a 13 bed unit for acutely ill patients who need a smaller, quieter environment. The Child and Adolescent unit serves patients between the ages of 4-18. All of the rooms are single rooms. We offer programming similar to 7A and provide shorter groups to help manage the shorter attention spans. We provide care to many children with autism and ASD. This can be a driven unit with patients who are impulsive and aggressive. We have staff who are passionate about providing structure and their strength is redirecting negative behaviors. Often staff will be seen playing soccer in the hall with the patients. This role is approved for hours, every two weeks on the shift, working 8 hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible.
