By delivering rapid assessments and connecting vulnerable patients to the right level of care, our screeners serve as a vital lifeline. We view our Mental Health Screeners as a crucial component of our care plan, redefining the patient experience through teamwork, empathy, and excellence. As a Mental Health Screener, a typical day might include the following: Performing screening assessments to determine the most appropriate services or disposition according to the patient's clinical needs, ensuring consideration of the least restrictive alternatives. Completing screening documents with clear descriptions of patient mental illness and dangerousness due to mental illness, strictly following the Screening Law and guidelines from the DMHS Screener Certification training. Preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports in a timely manner, ensuring all paperwork is completed prior to the end of each shift. Answering the 24-hour crisis hotline immediately to provide information, referrals, and rapid emergency responses that conform to established screening guidelines.
