Life Skills Instructor — Mental Health Residential (SPMI) About the Role Insight Disability Services supports adults living with serious and persistent mental illness in licensed residential homes across Las Vegas. Our Life Skills Instructors are the people who make that work — you are with residents through the whole shift, teaching the practical skills that make independent living possible. This is not a sit-and-monitor job. You will run structured skill-building sessions, support residents through daily routines, and be the steady presence that helps someone build a life they can manage. If you have worked in behavioral health and want a role where you actually teach rather than just supervise, this is it. What You Will Do Lead individual and small-group life skills sessions using our established curriculum — daily living, emotional regulation, communication, self-advocacy, and routine building Support residents with daily living activities, including personal care, meals, household routines, and community outings Reinforce each resident's Individual Teaching Plan and behavior supports exactly as written Administer medications once certified, following our medication policy Observe and document resident progress, mood, and behavior accurately and on time Use de-escalation techniques to keep the home safe and calm Communicate clearly with your Residential Manager and the incoming shift What We Are Looking For Required High school diploma or GED Two years of experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses, behavioral health needs, or similar populations 18 years or older Ability to follow structured instruction plans and document accurately Strong communication and observation skills Ability to pass background checks and health clearances required for licensed residential facilities Nice to Have Associate's degree in psychology, human services, or behavioral health Experience with life skills training, psychoeducation, or psychiatric rehabilitation Prior work in residential or community-based mental health settings Certifications We will get you certified — you do not need these on day one.

Before you work independently:

CPR/First Aid, our 8-hour caregiver training, abuse and neglect reporting, infection control, fire safety, and HIPAA. Within 3 months: Medication Technician certification, CPI, and Mental Health First Aid. Within 6 months: Fundamentals of Brain Injury certification. Schedule and Details Full-time, hourly, overtime eligible Shifts available on days, evenings, and overnights, including weekends and holidays Some travel between our Las Vegas locations and into the community Physical role — you will be on your feet, assisting with mobility and transfers, and lifting up to 50 lbs Driving a company vehicle is not required for this position. If you are assigned to drive, you will need to be 25 or older with a valid Nevada license and a clean driving record.
