Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS) to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Responsibilities Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs and develop individualized care plans. Deliver evidence-based behavioral interventions, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), to support clients with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Manage crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to ensure safety for clients and staff. Administer medications following prescribed protocols, monitor vital signs, and document medical records accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient care by supporting clients with mental health challenges such as PTSD, substance use disorders, and behavioral health issues through therapeutic communication and support strategies. Maintain detailed medical documentation, including progress notes, behavior intervention reports, and medical records using EMR/EHR platforms while ensuring confidentiality. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, special educators, and medical professionals—to coordinate comprehensive care for clients with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders. Utilize first aid and CPR skills when necessary to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring client safety at all times. Requirements Must have at least three (3) years of experience working as a QMHS and/or a Bachelor/Associates degree in a Mental Health related field Proven experience working with children and youth in behavioral health or educational settings. Demonstrated knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Strong understanding of mental health conditions such as PTSD and substance use disorders, along with appropriate treatment approaches. Experience implementing behavior management plans and applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques. Ability to perform crisis management and de-escalation effectively in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration procedures, vital signs monitoring, and maintaining accurate medical records. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, documentation, and team collaboration. Valid first aid and CPR certification is required; additional certifications in addiction counseling or special education are a plus.
