Job Summary The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct support and supervision to patients receiving behavioral health and eating disorder treatment services. The BHT assists the clinical team in maintaining a safe, structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment while promoting patient engagement, independence, and adherence to individualized treatment plans. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and support to patients throughout scheduled programming. Monitor patient safety, behavior, mood, and participation, promptly communicating any concerns to appropriate clinical staff. Assist patients in following individualized treatment plans and daily schedules. Support and supervise patients during meals, snacks, therapeutic activities, and other assigned programming, as appropriate. Provide appropriate redirection and encouragement while maintaining professional therapeutic boundaries. Document patient observations, behaviors, interventions, and other required information accurately and in a timely manner. Conduct safety checks and other monitoring activities according to organizational policies and patient needs. Assist with patient admissions, orientation, transitions, and discharges as assigned. Facilitate or assist with structured activities and groups within the BHT's training and scope of responsibility. Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition, safety concerns, suspected self-harm, suicidal statements, medical concerns, or other significant behavioral changes. Respond appropriately to behavioral or psychiatric emergencies and follow established crisis and emergency procedures. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements. Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic treatment environment. Participate in staff meetings, training, supervision, and required continuing education. Work collaboratively with therapists, nurses, dietitians, medical providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Follow organizational policies, procedures, professional boundaries, and applicable regulatory requirements. Complete additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

High school diploma or GED. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, coworkers, and members of the treatment team. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and patient confidentiality. Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful or crisis situations.

Preferred:

Associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, behavioral health, social work, human services, or a related field. Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, eating disorder treatment, substance-use treatment, residential treatment, or another healthcare setting.

Certifications / Training

CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the required timeframe. Crisis prevention/de-escalation training as required. Completion of all required orientation, HIPAA, safety, and patient-care training. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Pay:

$23.99 - $28.89 per hour
