PAID BENEFITS I. JOB SUMMARY

Family Service & Children's Aid Society employs the position of Behavioral Health Technician to provide building-wide school based behavioral health support model. The model is based on the Re-Education (Re-ED) eco-systemic therapy approach developed by Dr. Nicholas Hobbs. Re-Education is a philosophical basis for working with children and youth who have emotional and/or behavioral disorders. The program is based on the Re-Education philosophy and the 12 Principles that summarize the philosophy. This program will provide therapeutic interventions and casework services for students in grades K-12 who are referred to the building-wide behavioral health intervention model in the Oil City Area School District based on the Re-EDucation (Re-ED) philosophy. The Behavioral Health Technician is knowledgeable of Re-Education principles and practices, LSCI certified, experienced with treatment plan administration, experienced in the application of Behavior Modification based on the student's individual Functional Behavioral Assessment used by the public education system, knowledge of child development and CPR certified. All independent clinical decisions are the responsibility of the Program Director. This Behavioral Health Technician position is located at Hasson Heights Elementary School. The work schedule varies and will include evening and weekend hours based on program need. The position reports directly to the Program Director of the school-based behavioral health intervention model of Family Service & Children's Aid Society for all clinical and program issues with formal supervision being held on a regular basis (group supervision - one (1) hour weekly, individual supervision - one half (1/2) hour twice a month) and informal supervision available on an ongoing basis. This position also indirectly reports to the Clinical Compliance Director of Family Service & Children's Aid Society. This full-time position specializes in meeting the therapeutic needs of students enrolled in the program and their families. Employee is expected to comply with all program, Agency, county, school district, and state requirements.

II. ACCOUNTABILITIES REGARDING WORK PERFORMED

Implements school-based treatment behavioral health treatment plans. Tracks measurable objectives. Documents treatment activities and responses. Communicates overall progress through written and oral reports. Attends clinical team meetings. Maintains students' behavioral health paperwork/records. Provides assessments utilizing tools such as the CAFAS, ecomap, etc. Manages a caseload of up to five (5) students. Attends the monthly Family Night/Recognition Ceremony. Attends conferences, meetings, in-services, and training sessions in order to keep abreast of current information, regulations, and general knowledge to enhance professional growth. Participates in all required supervision sessions, planning meetings, and treatment team meetings. Is expected to be actively involved in determining appropriate therapeutic options for individual family's needs. Attends mandatory training to specifically achieve competency in the philosophy and practice of Re-Education. Seeks out information and skills as needed to offer families the highest quality of service. Performs other work-related duties as requested by the Program Director or the Executive Director of Family Service & Children's Aid Society to enhance the overall operation of the Agency.

III. HIPAA MINIMUM NECESSARY STANDARD

The minimum necessary standard, a key protection of the HIPAA Privacy Rule, is derived from confidentiality codes and practices in common use today. The minimum necessary standard requires the Agency to evaluate our practices and enhance safeguards as needed to limit unnecessary or inappropriate access to and disclosure of protected health information. This position may only access the minimum information that is necessary to perform all job accountabilities included in this job description. 1. Permitted Accesses A. Access to consumer files for the HEIGHTS building-wide behavioral health intervention model. 2. Justification/Purpose A. To carryout the operations of HEIGHTS building-wide behavioral health intervention model including, compiling consumer files to ensure a complete record of service activities, and maintaining accurate consumer files in order to comply with program standards.

IV. REQUIREMENTS 1.

Valid PA driver's license to use on the job when necessary and proof of own vehicle insurance if personal vehicle is used for business purposes. 2. Submission to a Pre-employment Drug Screen 3. Submission of a report of criminal history record for the PA State Police (Act 34) 4. Submission of a PA Child Abuse Clearance History Record (Act 151) 5. Submission of a Federal (FBI) Criminal History Report (Act 73 of 2007) 6. Ability and willingness to respect and practice confidentiality. 7. Flexibility to work irregular hours. 8. Willingness to attend out of town conferences, training workshops, and meetings as necessary.

V. QUALIFICATIONS 1.

Ability to facilitate recreational therapy sessions as part of the classroom team, utilizing own discretion and judgment. 2. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner. 3. Ability to use a computer and software for word processing. 4. Ability to work well within stated time frames or deadlines. 5. Ability and personality characteristics to work effectively with people from all social, economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds and age groups. 6. Ability to work independently and effectively without direct supervision. 7. Strong commitment to implement and promote the philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies of the Agency. 8. Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written form. 9. Ability to independently organize workload around consumer and program priorities. 10. Ability to accept and exercise authority appropriately and make rational informed decisions. 11. Ability to work well under pressure. 12. Ability to respect and practice confidentiality. 13. Strong commitment to working as an effective team member. 14. Strong commitment to the Re-ED principles and PEP model. 15.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices involved in the development and implementation of Re-ED principles and PEP model programs.
• Basic principles and methods of community organizations.
• DSM-IVR criteria and classifications.
• Group dynamics.
• Effective de-escalation, crisis intervention, and crisis management techniques.

VI. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING 1.

Education/ Work Experience-Must meet one of the following:

• Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a behavior specialist
• Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or counseling from a college or university
• Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree with at least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work or counseling from a college or university
• Completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree with a least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from a college or university
• Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the provision of behavioral health services and a Bachelor's Degree preferably in, social work, psychology, education, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, or activities therapies
• Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA.
