Flexible based on program and member needs Position Summary An Arizona behavioral health organization is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly organized Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support individuals receiving behavioral health and community-based services throughout Arizona. This position is designed to be primarily virtual , with the substantial majority of routine responsibilities expected to be performed remotely. While occasional in-person participation may be requested based on member, program, training, operational, or service needs , in-person assignments are expected to be infrequent rather than a routine component of the position. Candidates should nevertheless reside in Arizona and maintain the ability to participate in an in-person activity when reasonably necessary. We are particularly interested in candidates who understand Arizona's behavioral health system and can provide respectful, culturally responsive support to individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities. Experience Serving Tribal Communities Is Highly Valued Candidates with professional experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native individuals, tribal communities, tribal health programs, Indian Health Service (IHS), tribally operated health programs, AIHP populations, Tribal Regional Behavioral Health Authorities, or other tribal/community-based programs are strongly encouraged to apply. Tribal-community experience is strongly preferred but is not required and will not automatically exclude an otherwise highly qualified candidate. We recognize that effective behavioral health support requires more than technical knowledge. Cultural humility, respect for community values, an ability to build trust, and sensitivity to the unique needs and experiences of the populations being served are equally important. Key Responsibilities The BHT will provide behavioral health support within the individual's authorized scope, service plan, organizational policies, and applicable Arizona requirements.

Responsibilities may include:

Provide behavioral health support to assigned members under appropriate clinical direction and supervision. Assist members in working toward established behavioral health, wellness, recovery, independent-living, and community-based goals. Support implementation of individualized treatment and service-plan objectives. Conduct scheduled virtual member contacts and behavioral health support sessions as assigned. Establish professional, supportive, and culturally respectful relationships with members. Provide skills training, psychoeducation, wellness support, and other authorized behavioral health interventions within the BHT's scope. Help members develop coping, communication, problem-solving, self-management, and independent-living skills. Identify changes in member functioning, behavior, circumstances, or needs and communicate significant concerns to the appropriate clinical supervisor. Recognize potential behavioral health or safety concerns and follow established escalation and crisis-response procedures. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. Coordinate appropriately with behavioral health professionals, supervisors, case-management personnel, and other members of the care team. Participate in case consultations, supervision, training, and team meetings as required. Complete progress notes, service documentation, and other required records accurately and within established timelines. Maintain documentation that is objective, professional, complete, and consistent with organizational and applicable payer requirements. Follow HIPAA, confidentiality, organizational compliance, and applicable Arizona behavioral health requirements. Demonstrate cultural humility when supporting individuals from different communities, traditions, socioeconomic backgrounds, and life experiences. Participate in occasional in-person activities when necessary for member or program needs. Tribal & Culturally Responsive Experience We have a strong interest in applicants who have experience serving tribal communities. Highly desirable experience includes work involving one or more of the following: American Indian or Alaska Native populations Arizona tribal communities Indian Health Service (IHS) Tribal 638 health programs American Indian Health Program (AIHP) populations Tribal Regional Behavioral Health Authorities (TRBHAs) Tribal behavioral health or community-health programs Rural Arizona communities Community-based behavioral health programs Medicaid/AHCCCS populations Culturally responsive behavioral health services Candidates do not need experience in every area listed above. An applicant who meets BHT qualifications and demonstrates strong behavioral health experience, cultural humility, professionalism, and a genuine ability to effectively serve diverse communities will still receive consideration even without previous tribal-specific experience. Qualifications Candidates must be able to meet applicable Arizona requirements for functioning as a Behavioral Health Technician based on their combination of education, behavioral health experience, training, and demonstrated competency. Relevant backgrounds may include education and/or professional experience in: Behavioral health Psychology Social work Counseling Human services Substance-use services Community behavioral health Case management Recovery support Crisis services Family or youth services Other related behavioral health or human-service settings Candidates should possess: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong behavioral health documentation skills. Ability to communicate professionally through virtual platforms. Ability to work independently while remaining responsive to clinical supervision. Strong time-management and organizational abilities. Comfort working with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Ability to recognize situations requiring consultation, escalation, or clinical intervention. Reliable internet access and an appropriate environment for confidential virtual work. Ability to comply with organizational privacy, security, documentation, and telehealth-related procedures. Arizona residency and reasonable ability to participate in an occasional in-person assignment when necessary. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates with: Previous experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in Arizona. Previous professional experience serving tribal communities or American Indian/Alaska Native populations. Experience with AHCCCS-funded behavioral health services. Experience with IHS, Tribal 638 programs, TRBHAs, or tribal healthcare organizations. Experience providing community-based behavioral health services. Experience working with Medicaid populations. Strong electronic health record (EHR/EMR) documentation experience. Experience providing behavioral health support through virtual platforms. Crisis prevention, de-escalation, or crisis-response experience. Current Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, where applicable. Current CPR/First Aid certification, where applicable. Additional behavioral health, peer-support, substance-use, crisis, or culturally responsive care training. Work Environment This opportunity offers a highly virtual work structure .
