Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Duties Develop and implement individualized music therapy treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, chronic illnesses, or experiencing mental health challenges. Facilitate both individual and group music therapy sessions that incorporate techniques such as art therapy, dance therapy, and recreational therapy to promote emotional expression and behavioral health. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate music therapy into comprehensive patient care plans while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and privacy. Document clinical progress accurately through detailed medical documentation and maintain comprehensive medical records in accordance with healthcare standards. Conduct assessments to evaluate patients' responsiveness to therapy and adjust approaches accordingly to maximize therapeutic outcomes. Engage in client communication to educate patients and families about the benefits of music therapy and address any questions or concerns they may have. Participate in outpatient programs, hospice care, dementia care, pediatrics, and psychiatric patient care initiatives to provide specialized therapeutic interventions. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program; certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) is required. Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, or chronic illnesses. Strong knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, art therapy, dance therapy, and recreational therapy modalities. Familiarity with CPT coding and clinical documentation standards relevant to healthcare settings. Ability to work effectively with children and diverse populations in outpatient or inpatient environments. Excellent client communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience managing medical records securely. Experience working within mental health and behavioral health frameworks; prior experience in hospice or dementia care is a plus.
