A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Must be board-certified and working towards Illinois licensure. Located in Elgin, IL M-F 8:00 am - 3:30 pm school day Salary based on experience Benefits Position Music Therapist plans and implements group music therapy for each classroom, class sizes average 6-10 students. Therapy groups put a strong emphasis on development of age-appropriate scial and emotional goals, creative self-expression, positive coping, etc. In addition to running program-wide music therapy program, the Music Therapist is the director of the adaptive performing arts program, which may include variety shows, school plays, drum clubs, guitar clubs, etc. Therapist also assist with our interdisciplinary extracurricular program, during the school day. Therapist works closely with the rest of the Expressive Therapy team, including recreation therapists and art therapists.
