A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized music therapy treatment plans aligned with each patient's goals and needs. Incorporate techniques from behavioral therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, recreational therapy, and other modalities to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Collaborate with multid such as psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and medical staff to coordinate comprehensive care. Adapt therapy approaches for individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, dementia, or chronic illnesses to maximize engagement and benefits. Qualifications Certification as a Board-Certified Music Therapist (CBMT) is required. Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles including behavioral therapy and addiction counseling techniques. Experience providing mental health counseling, individual/group counseling, and psychiatric patitients. Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches for children and adults with diverse needs including dementia care and chronic illnesses. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage patients of all ages in therapeutic activities.
