A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description
Key Experience & Qualifications:
National certification as a music therapist required Proven knowledge of music therapy procedures, strategies, assessment protocols, and equipment Familiarity with interventions for students with autism and other developmental disabilities Ability to evaluate student progress and document services in compliance with IEPs Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Comfortable creating adaptive equipment and conducting staff development and consultative training Must complete required district fingerprinting (if not already on record) Attendance, punctuality, and compliance with district regulations is mandatoryKey Responsibilities:
Provide music therapy individually and in groups on campuses (music equipment must be provided by therapist) Develop flexible schedules to ensure compliance with campus expectations and student needs Participate in ARD meetings and assist with assessment, placement, and goal setting Consult with staff and families to enhance understanding and effectiveness of the program Manage program assessment, documentation, reporting, and compliance with policy Enjoy flexibility in choosing your workdays during the week, connect with colleagues striving for student success, and make a lasting difference in student achievement!
