A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description
- PRN•Waco, TX Who we're looking for: Music Therapist•PRN with flexible hours/days•no weekend shifts Enjoys individual, functional therapy in real-world settings Neuro rehab experience preferred (stroke, TBI, SCI) You enjoy flexibility, clinical autonomy, and working on a collaborative rehab team What you will receive: PRN-Flexible schedule created by you Pay per hour (not PPV) Paid drive time + mileage No weekends, No OASIS Real-world neuro rehab focus Serve as primary therapist across the treatment plan Responsibilities Performs an evaluation, assessing the needs of the person receiving services, and sets measurable objectives that are formulated in conjunction with the rehabilitation team Administers direct music therapy treatment to provide habilitative and rehabilitative services Plans and organizes music therapeutic activities in accordance with patients' needs, capabilities, and interests Observes and evaluates patients' reactions to various experiences, adjusts treatment to achieve maximum results Communicates patient's needs and progress to the treatment team, physician, person receiving services, family members, as applicable Consults with and works closely with other disciplines in ways music therapy goals can support patient meeting their Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech goals Observes, documents, and reports changes in the condition of the person served to the clinical coordinator, PM/DCM, attending physician, and other treatment team members as appropriate Provides training to the person receiving services, and as appropriate, all others involved in that person's rehabilitation.
- Board Certified (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT), depending on state requirements Knowledge of the various appropriate music therapy activities used for the therapeutic treatment of individuals with neurologic disorders Previous post graduate work experience as music therapist is preferred Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR certification in accordance state regulations Has reliable transportation and is able to travel to/from multiple assignments/locations daily About our Line of Business Rehab Without Walls, an affiliate of BrightSpring Health Services, is a revolutionary neurorehabilitation program that moves individuals outside the walls of institutional settings and into their natural home and community environment through a continuum of care.
